BMX stands for Bicycle Moto Cross, a style of bike riding which involves all-terrain bikes riding over a dirt track with a variety of obstacles in the terrain (e.g. jumps). Therefore, BMX Bikes were developed to best suit these conditions, resulting in smaller and thus sturdier bikes frames, with wheels that are smaller with more spokes to provide extra strength. From the original Racing BMX bikes, which were built for speed, other varieties of BMX bicycles emerged, such as Freestyle BMX bikes, which focus on tricks, and Dirt BMX bikes, which bring this newer aspect to dirt tracks. As BMX bikes have no gears and are simple and strong in their design, they generally require less maintenance. At Factory Direct Bikes, we recommend adults generally use wheels sized 20". The 24in wheel BMX is purely for racing. All BMX bikes sold at Factory Direct Bikes can be delivered throughout the UK. For any queries or assistance, please contact us and we'd be happy to help.
